BCBR 2008 Arriving/Departing Tips

Though we start at Shawnigan Lake, roughly 40km north of Victoria on Vancouver Island, this point-to-point race ends in Whistler on the Mainland. Please make your arrival and departure travel arrangements accordingly.

What does this mean for you in terms of transportation?

Well, if you are flying to BC for the race, you could schedule your inbound flight to arrive at Vancouver International Airport (YVR), which is located just outside Vancouver and is the hub for travelers with all major international airlines. From there you can take a connecting flight to Victoria – arriving either at Victoria International Airport (YYJ) or Victoria Inner Harbour (depending on your carrier).

Because the race ends in Whistler, on the Mainland, schedule your outbound flight to leave from Vancouver International Airport. Quite honestly, unless you plan to do some sightseeing in Victoria or on Vancouver Island after the race, there is no reason for you to book post-race transportation departing from Victoria.

As part of their scheduled bus service* between Vancouver and Victoria, Pacific Coach Lines offers direct service to and from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Victoria. Victoria bus service connects through the Tsawwassen and Swartz Bay Ferry Terminals. The Pacific Coach Lines bus is located at the Victoria bus pick up position on the International and Domestic Arrivals level curb at Vancouver International Airport.
