Performance Cycling Camps: Presented by Canadian Olympians Seamus McGrath and Andreas Hestler in partnership with Big Mountain Bike Adventures

Dates: Camp 1: March 1 - 8, 2010  Camp 2: March 8 - 15, 2010

Location: Victoria, BC

Cost: CDN$1050  **Early Bird Offer! Book for CDN$900 until January 31, 2010

Camp pricing includes one massage session, MAP testing with Heart Rate Zone analysis and Video Capture on Bike, with analysis. Pricing does not include accommodations.

Highlights: With over 45 years of experience between the two, Andreas and Seamus know a few things about preparing for a race season! Come join the Canadian Olympians at Performance Cycling Camps to set the foundations for a successful race season. One of the most important things to setting up a race season is the off season training that occurs in the dead of winter!  The weather is not perfect, the hours are long, and the muscles are sore, but this style of training developed a list of Canadian cycling champions that is quite impressive.  We chose Victoria to host these training camps as this is where we did our winter training during our careers, and found this to be the best place in North America to do it. There are world class roads and trails, amazing cross training facilities and opportunities - along with lots of good food to be found!  We have an ideal network of contacts in the high performance field here in Victoria; including access to the best therapists, testing facilities and mechanical support available.

Here’s how an average day looks: Group road or MTB ride - always supported with a vehicle or a professional rider for mechanical and nutrition support. Recovery afterward, followed by a gym session to address core / strength / imbalance issues. After eating some good food and discussing the day's training, we will host Q&A sessions where we can fill you in on all you need to know - nutrition, coaching, season planning, recovery techniques, technical and competition advice. A few of the days will also include some serious, but fun, cross training - and of course, there will certainly be some stories told. We will offer a challenging but fun time! This style of a training camp fostered a drive to succeed within us and created great camaraderie among the members of the national team; we aim to recreate this atmosphere. Make the commitment to yourself this year and come see what the next level is all about!

 


Big Mountain Bike Adventures: BC Bike Race Spring Training Camp in Nevada and Utah

Dates: March 28 to April 3, 2010

Location: Nevada & Utah, USA

Cost: USD$1950 includes 6 nights hotel, expert coaching, great riding, airport pickup and all ground transportation, all breakfasts and 4 dinners, detailed pre-departure information and a Big Mountain t-shirt.

Highlights: Wouldn't winter be more bearable with a spring trip to look forward to? Leave the cold, hop on a flight and join us in the warm climes of this spectacular desert setting. Join Olympian, celebrated coach and charismatic athlete Andreas Hestler on this highly energized 7-day trip. The goal: gather early season miles, learn about nutrition, bike fitting, bike skills, training techniques and more. Most importantly, this trip is all about having fun on the bike and there's no one better than Dre to lead the way. Here's how your week unfolds:

Day 01
Meet in Las Vegas, transfer to Boulder City, build bikes and head out for a warm-up ride.
Day 02
Enjoy Bootleg Canyon trails and a skills intensive morning. After lunch at a café we'll head out for an easy spin.
Day 03
Ride out of sleepy Blue Diamond on fast
cross-country trails like 3-mile Smile and Black Velvet.
Day 04
Transfer to Hurricane Utah and ride Jem trail, pure joy on a mountain bike.
Day 05
Moab on steroids, Gooseberry Mesa is smooth and rocky and perfect for skills development and having fun.
Day 06
Thunder Mountain is one of Andreas' all-time favorite trails. You'll see why.
Day 07
Fly home. Bon voyage!

 

Pacific Cycling Centre: Exclusive Training Program for BC BIKE RACE Athletes

Dates: This 12 week program leading the the BC bike race starts on April 5th and ends with the start of the race on June 27th 2010

Highlights: This 12 week training program is designed specifically to prepare you for the BC Bike Race. Regardless of your level we will get you to your peak performance for the race. We know what works through our experience coaching the best Mountain Bike athletes in the world and we know what it takes to get ready for BC Bike race. This 12 week advanced training program takes a periodized approach to training to have each athlete in peak form for the event. The phases and weekly micro-cycles will be customized to your individual strengths and needs.

Don’t train with no set goal and objectives and hope to get lucky. This program will help you take control and create your own luck. The program is divided into several key components of cycling:

  • Strength: MTB cycling specific strength program. Aerobic endurance, and aerobic power, the most important energy system for MTB stage race.
  • Recovery and Regeneration: your training program will build on how you recover; we will make sure you do not over-train or under-train.
  • Tapering and Peaking: we make sure you enter the race in top form and properly rested.
