Medical Volunteers
Working with the BCBR medical group is an interesting and
rewarding part of the BCBR team. The unique nature of
the BCBR allows the Medical Group to care for a wide degree of
injuries and over a longer term than other
events. Whether on the trail at the scene of an accident
or in the clinical at Base Camp, the BCBR Medical Group will
challenge you and give you an experience second to none.
There are 2 categories of BCBR Medical volunteer:
- Course Medical Team- people who have volunteered in the past
for these positions have been paramedics (ACP, PCP, EMT, CCP),
Registered or Practical nurses, Emergency Medical Responders, or
have a 80 hour Wilderness First Aid course (WFR OEC AWFA
etc.). Experience in search and rescue, ski patrol/bike
park patrol is an asset but not required. These positions may
be mobile or stationary. Certification must be current
and in good standing.
- Base Camp Medical Team- people who have volunteered in the past
for these positions have been paramedics (ACP, PCP, EMT), nurses,
doctors, Emergency Medical Responders or have a 80 hour
Wilderness First Aid course (WFR OEC AWFA etc.), physiotherapists,
chiropractors. Certification must be current and in good
standing.
The volunteer positions with the BCBR Medical Group are
limited.
