BC Bike Race

Day Five - July 5, 2012

Sechelt to Langdale300-DS_BCBR10_5313

You'll start in downtown Sechelt with a jaunt along the road bordering Porpoise Bay before hitting the trails. From here, you'll move into some singletrack and work your way upwards. This section of trail takes you to awesome views of the ocean below - you might even see your ferry coming in from up here!

Finally, you'll rocket down our favourite descent to finish in Langdale and BC Ferries will take you to Horseshoe Bay, where you'll hop on a bus to get up to the Base Camp in Squamish.

A teaser of what's in store:

300-DS_BCBR10_5410Rat Race Trail System - these are gentle, buff, and fast rainforest trails that you'll love. Most of the time, you'll be immersed in the forest under 30-40 metre tall trees, so take a moment to enjoy the scenery.

Highway 103 - after some climbing, you'll reach what is argueably the best descent in the entire BC Bike Race! Highway 103 is almost seven kilometres of sweet singletrack downhill through the dense forest, popping you out at the Langdale Terminal. Then it's on to Squamish for the night!

The trail deposits you at Langdale Ferry Terminal where you'll find post-race refreshments, bike wash, bike transport, and showers.

After a ferry trip and a bus ride, you'll be in Squamish sitting under the shadow of the Stawamus Cheif, who's Grand Wall (702m) was first climbed 50 years ago to the day when we arrive in town! There's also a Community Centre with access to a pool and hot tub to ease those tired legs.
