The following is to inform you of our Privacy Policy and practices and of the choices you can make about the way your information is collected online. Please note:

  • This policy describes what types of information we gather about you, how we use it, under what circumstances we disclose it to third-parties, and your rights to update or correct it.
  • This policy applies to the BC Bike Race website only and does not apply to other companies’ or organizations’ websites to which we link. This privacy policy does not cover the personal data you choose to provide to unrelated third parties. INFORMATION COLLECTED ABOUT YOU

Confidentiality

BC Bike Race respects customer privacy and the privacy of those accessing our website. We undertake to protect the confidentiality of our customers and users including all personal information supplied in the course of registering for events with us. Under no circumstances do we sell your personal information to third parties for commercial or marketing purposes.

Data Collected Automatically

We track certain generic information with respect to customers’ use of our website. Information may include number of unique visitors, the number of times they visit, and the areas on the website that they favor. We only use this type of data on a collective basis, in summary form, rather than on an individual basis. This data is used for click stream analysis to help better understand site usage, so that we can improve our service to you. We do not link information automatically logged by such means with personal data about specific individuals.

IP Addresses

We track traffic to our website by collecting visitors’ domain and IP addresses automatically; this information does not identify you as an individual, but only the computer that is being used to view the site. An IP address is a unique number assigned to your computer when you are using your browser on the Internet. We log this information so that we can monitor things like the number of visitors visiting the website; however, we do not use or link your IP address to any personally identifying information.

Cookies

Cookies tell our website that you’ve visited before and can help to make your visit more personal so you may not need to re-enter information on return visits. Cookies also allow us to count the number of unique and return visitors to our website as well as enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance their experience on our website.

Subscribing to our Newsletter

We send email notifications and information to users who have opted in. Those notifications may be, but not limited to, our newsletter, information on races, new features, new content, and other products and services. These communications are sent to you directly by BC Bike Race. In order to receive the emailed information you must have subscribed via our website or registered for one of our races.

It is our intention to always allow you to opt out of any of our lists. When you receive any newsletter or email and you want to unsubscribe, you can simply click the instant “unsubscribe” links at the top of each message.

Information Gathered from Members

If you elect to register for a race on www.bcbikerace.com, you will be required to provide us with certain personal information, including your name, e-mail address, credit card number, expiration date, and billing address (this required information is subject to change from time to time). There may also be opportunities for you to provide us with additional information regarding your preferences and interests; however, is not required and is completely optional on your part. We may appoint third party organizations to assist us in providing you with the information, goods, products and services you request. In these circumstances, we will take steps to ensure that your personal information is held in strict accordance with our privacy policy and is only used for the purpose of fulfilling your request.

Except as set out above, we will not pass your details to anyone else outside BC Bike Race without your permission. By clicking the ‘I accept’ button where you offer your information in return for information, goods, products and services, you consent to such a transfer.

If we look to use your personal data for a new purpose, beyond what it was originally provided for, we will ask for your consent. You can choose to provide this consent in advance by indicating in the ‘opt-in’ box at the point that personal data is collected.

USES OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

If you have provided us your consent via opt-in subscription, we may use the information we have collected about you to:

  • send you personalized, targeted information that we think you will find relevant from BC Bike Race;
  • support any of your requests, like order processing;
  • send promotions and coupons based on your interests;
  • contact you for feedback and surveys; or,
  • send you other information about BC Bike Race or its business partners.

You may unsubscribe or opt-out of services at any time. Order Fulfillment

From time to time, you may be given the opportunity to order partner products and services directly from our website, newsletter, or in other communications you may receive from BC Bike Race. To process your order, BC Bike Race may provide these partners with your name, street address, e-mail address, phone number, and credit card information. BC Bike Race will limit the types of information shared to the minimum necessary to efficiently process your order. In some cases you are ordering products from a business partner and in accepting these offers, you become subject to its privacy policy. We encourage you to review these companies’ privacy policies and only do business with those who adhere to personal information practices with which you are comfortable.

SECURITY OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

When you register for a race or access your payment information, we use an advanced encryption technology known as Secure Socket Layer (SSL) to protect the storage and transfer of your data from unauthorized parties. While on a secure page, such as our registration form, a lock or key icon appears on the bottom of your web browser. In addition to our online security efforts, we take reasonable steps to protect your personal data offline, as well. All of your information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. BC Bike Race’s main servers are operated from a dedicated Internet hosting facility with state-of-the-art physical security features.

CHANGES TO THE PRIVACY POLICY

BC Bike Race will occasionally update this Privacy Policy in response to changing business circumstances and legal developments. The date at the top of this page will change to reflect the implementation date of the most recent updates to the policy.
